An excellent opportunity exists for dedicated and responsible individual to fulfill the role of:Payroll Officer in the Finance Department.  The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the production of an accurate and timeous payroll every month in terms of applicable legislation and company policy.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Process, record and ensure salary administrative activities are performed in accordance with audit guidelines, policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Compile General Ledger journals for salary related accounts
  • Compile and ensure all external payments are accurate, timeously paid to avoid interest or penalty charges
  • Resolve any salary related queries by interpreting information and responding in the required manner, to employees and auditors
  • Provide annual payroll inputs into the budgets
  • Generate payroll reports and supply information as and when required
  • Serve as a relief to others in the section

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric and a National Diploma (NQF level 6) in Finance/Accounting or equivalent relevant qualification
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in payroll administration
  • Payroll system, financial system, Employee Self Service and Human Resource system experience will be advantageous
  • Overall understanding of Finance and interface between payroll and finance functions
  • Microsoft package ERP system and basic understanding of GRAP, PFMA and Treasury regulations
  • Attentive to detail, quality focused and high regard for confidentiality
